@everyone I just wanted to write a heartfelt message from my side today. Around 12 years ago I started building this as a small passion project because I was unhappy with the state of other MMOs. I failed 2–3 times trying to build something without thinking long-term, but then I stopped and thought purely as a player — what would the best Pokémon MMO experience actually look like? After 5–6 years of work, I launched PBO on 24th March 2021, not knowing where we'd be the next day, let alone after 5 years.
The first week was brutal. People were trying to kill the project, hack it, DDoS the server, do everything they could to shut it down. Every decision I made was criticized. It felt toxic, it was exhausting — something I'd poured my heart into as a passion project. But I wanted to keep going. I wanted to make the best MMO I possibly could. Now look where we are — 5 years later, still standing, with countless features, a solid team, and so much more in the pipeline.
None of this would exist without you guys — the players who stuck around, the ones who joined along the way, and the incredible team I met on this journey: @user , @user , @user , @user , @user , @user , @user , @user , @user, @user, @user , Amy, @user , @user our artists, the tester team, and everyone who helped shape PBO at any point. There were times I felt like giving up — and these people kept me going.
We've come a long way — 1 region to 4, with a 5th on the horizon. Showdown integration drops in the next 7 days, expeditions incoming. But honestly? We're just getting started.
To mark the occasion, we're running a 10-day Anniversary Event — Double EXP weekends, new spawns, a returning Shadow Mount Chest with 9 fan-favorite Shadow Mounts, and more.
