Halloween Dynamax – Frenzy
As part of the upcoming Halloween Dynamax event, we've been working on a new mechanic called Frenzy, which will change how invasions begin and how players participate in them.
The idea behind this change is to give more players the opportunity to participate in each invasion, rather than having the outcome largely depend on who manages to reach the boss first or their ping. We also want to make some adjustments to account for the additional time players will have to deal damage.
Frenzy
During the first few minutes of a Halloween invasion, the boss will enter a Frenzy state. While this is active, its HP will remain full and it cannot be defeated, but all damage dealt will still count towards rewards and the invasion leaderboard.
Once the Frenzy ends, the boss will be left with 100,000 HP, allowing everyone to finish the battle together.
Each boss will have a different Frenzy duration, and there will be several visual and chat indicators to make it clear when the effect starts, how much time remains, and when it ends. Additional information will also be available through the Dynamax leaderboard and the invasion's Learn More section.
Only Halloween Dynamax invasions will use this mechanic. Regular invasions, Kanto community bosses, and Doubles invasions will remain unchanged.
Invasion Announcements
Another change we're making is how invasion locations are announced. Similar to the tier announcements used for Crew Wars, the upcoming boss and its location will be revealed a few minutes before the invasion begins.
This should give players more time to reach the location and prepare, making participation less dependent on who can travel there the fastest.
*Damage Records
Since Frenzy gives everyone more time to deal damage, we're also making an adjustment to Defense Curl. The move will be banned during these invasions to account for the additional time available to reach higher damage numbers.
Damage dealt during Frenzy will continue to count towards the invasion's rewards and leaderboard. However, to prevent a single invasion from disproportionately affecting long-term Dynamax damage progression, only up to 1,500,000 damage from each Frenzy invasion will count towards the all-time Dynamax damage __achievement and leaderboard__. Your actual best-damage record on your Trainer Card will still retain the full amount of damage dealt.
These changes are intended to make Halloween invasions more accessible while keeping competition over damage records meaningful.
More information will be available in-game once the feature is released.
